To advance foundational stained glass skills into 3D spatial and architectural volumes; to theoretically and practically teach the design and fabrication workflows of geometric and faceted stained glass terrariums, tabletop greenhouses, and sculptural lanterns; to develop competencies in 3D pattern netting, angular polygon joint calculations, load-bearing structural integrity, and rigid assembly; and to instill mastery in copper foiling, structural tack-soldering, vertical and angled fillet soldering, functional hinge/door mechanisms, patina chemistry, and waterproofing/sealing techniques.
| 1 | Explains 3D stained glass engineering principles, spatial unfolding rules of geometric polyhedra, and sheet glass thickness allowances theoretically. |
| 2 | Drafts and codes dimensioned 1:1 scale 2D net templates for faceted glass terrariums or table greenhouses following technical drafting rules. |
| 3 | Scores and breaks polygonal sheet glass components to exact tolerances and finishes edge seams on wet diamond grinders. |
| 4 | Centers and wraps high-adhesion copper foil tape onto ground polygon glass edges, burnishing them securely using folding styluses. |
| 5 | Assembles polygonal glass facets into 3D volumes using tape fixtures and applies high-strength corner tack-solders to establish rigid structural geometry. |
| 6 | Regulates iron temperature and part angles to execute smooth convex solder beads along vertical/slanted seams, and solders functional brass hinges/latches. |
| 7 | Executes chemical flux neutralization and patination (black/copper); seals interior basin seams with waterproof silicone while strictly observing workshop safety protocols. |

Because faceted terrariums require assembling numerous polygonal components (triangles, pentagons, hexagons), millimeter scoring deviations and grinding discrepancies will cause severe structural gaps; strict verification against drafting templates is mandatory. When soldering vertical or angled 3D seams, the assembly must be continuously re-angled to maintain a horizontal seam trough to prevent liquid solder sag, paired with precise iron heat regulation (80–100W). Since terrariums house moist soil, interior seams must be sealed with neutral-cure transparent silicone; wearing FFP2 particulate/fume masks and safety goggles is strictly enforced during soldering and flux handling.
Historical evolution of 3D glass art and contemporary geometric stained glass terrariums; geometric analysis of Platonic and Archimedean solids (tetrahedrons, octahedrons, icosahedrons, prisms) for faceted terrarium volumes; 2D surface pattern unfolding (netting) from 3D forms, glass thickness, and solder joint tolerances; template drafting and numbering systems; precision cutting and wet diamond grinding of clear, textured, and colored sheet glass; copper foil width selection and tensile adhesion for 3D assemblies; spatial assembly: temporary masking-tape jigging and 3D fixtures; vertical and angled seam soldering mechanics (controlling liquid solder flow, convex bead profiles); brass channel and wire reinforcement; fabricating functional hinges, latches, and aeration openings; chemical patination (black/copper), flux neutralization, clear silicone waterproofing, wax buffing, and studio health and safety standards.

Lecture: Visual theoretical presentations covering 3D stained glass engineering, Platonic polyhedral geometry, 2D pattern unfolding, joint bevel angles, and structural solder dynamics. Demonstration: Live demonstrations of drafting faceted terrarium nets, diamond-grinding angled edges, 3D tape jigging, corner tack-soldering, running vertical solder seams, and soldering miniature hinges. Studio Practice: Independent hands-on studio execution where students cut, foil, erect, solder, and finish a complex geometric glass terrarium (pyramid, icosahedron, geometric house, faceted prism). Desk Critique: Desk-side analysis evaluating angular joint tolerances, inter-panel gaps, structural solder bead uniformity, water tightness, and volumetric balance.
