The aim of this course is to make students understand the basic probability and statistical concepts and learn statistical analysis techniques that they can apply in their own area.

1 1. To be able to understand basic concepts related to Statistics
2 2 To be able to construct frequency tables to summarize the data and to present the results graphically
3 3. To become qualified in obtaining the characteristics of the data and summarizing the data
4 4. To be able to solve basic probability problems by understanding probability theory
5 5. To understand some special probability distributions, and be able to solve problems by the help of these distributions
6 6. To be qualified in estimating the parameters regarding to population
7 7. To be qualified in constructing, testing the hypothesis, and making inferences about the population
8 8. To be able to comprehend sampling distributions.

Basic Subjects: Description of Statistics; Population; Sample; Variable; Types of Variables; Parameters; Sample Statistics. Frequency Distributions: Frequency Distribution Tables; Graphs. Descriptive Statistics: Location Statistics; Measures of Variability. Probability Theory and Random Variables: Sample Spaces and Events; Permutation; Combination; Probability Laws; Conditional Probability; Bayes’ Theorem; Random Variable and Probability Distributions. Some Special Probability Distributions: Bernoulli Distribution; Binomial Distribution; Normal Distribution; Hypergeometric Distribution; Uniform Distribution Sampling distributions Chi-square, F and student- t distributions Statistical Inference: Statistical Estimation; Interval Estimation; Test of Hypothesis.

11 Sampling distributions: Sampling distribution for sample mean and variance , Central Limit Theorem,
12 Chi-square, F and student-t distributions
13 Interval estimation for mean and variance
14 Tests of hypothesis for mean and the variance (one sample case)
15 Tests of hypothesis for mean and the variance (two sample case)
