Dersin Amacı
Course Aims: Exploration of Contemporary Children's Fantasy: To provide students with an in-depth exploration of contemporary children's fantasy literature, including an understanding of its themes, trends, and cultural relevance. Critical Analysis Skills: To develop students' critical analysis skills, enabling them to dissect and evaluate children's fantasy literature from a scholarly perspective. Socio-Cultural Context: To examine the socio-cultural contexts that underpin modern children's fantasy narratives, fostering an awareness of how these stories reflect and respond to societal changes. Understanding Tween Material: To specifically engage with pre-teen, or tween, material and gain insights into how these narratives address the unique challenges and interests of this age group. Literary and Academic Enrichment: To enrich students' understanding of the genre and provide them with the tools to engage in academic discourse about contemporary children's fantasy literature.

This course offers an in-depth exploration of contemporary children's fantasy literature. While discussing the most influential works within the genre, we will also be scrutinising contemporary works through a more critical and scholarly lens. We will investigate themes, character development, and the socio-cultural contexts that underpin modern children's fantasy through rigorous academic inquiry. Focusing on pre-teen, or tween, material, we will gain a profound understanding of how these narratives navigate difficult middles.
