This course aims to explain students the evolution of human societies. This course also aims to teach students historical processes of human social evolution, its causes, mechanisms and patterns.



1 To get familiar the basic concepts and theories of social evolution.
2 To get acquainted with the significance of anthropological and sociological studies in prehistoric archaeology.
3 Learning the methods of interpreting ancient material culture.
4 Learning the stages of social, political and economical organization in primitive societies.

This course will focus on primitive social organizations. We will examine the evolutionary process from tribal type of social organization until the establishment of pristina states. Moreover, theories such as cultural relativity, theory of evolution, Marxism and political ecology will be discussed.
