History

According to the Vocational and Technical Education Law No. 4702, Chemistry Program started education as evening education in the 2002-2003 academic year within the scope of the MEB-YÖK Project. Chemistry Program continued its activities at Aliağa Multi-Program High School until 2007. The terminal building, which was transferred to Ege University by Aliağa Municipality in 2007, was restored with the support of regional industrialists and continued to provide education by opening the formal program as well as the evening education program as Bergama Vocational School Aliağa Campus on 12.12.2007. Chemistry Program continued its education with a name change as Chemical Technology Program. It continued its activities as Ege University Aliağa Vocational School Chemistry Technology Program according to Article 7/d-2 of the Law No. 2547, amended by Law No. 2880, in YÖK's letter dated 19-12-2013 and numbered 16503. Admission of students to the evening education program was stopped in 2019, and education continues as formal education as of the 2020-2021 academic year. As Aliağa Vocational School Chemical Technology Program, this is our first application for Vocational Education evaluation and Accreditation.

Qualification Awarded

Upon successful completion of the program, Associate Degree Diploma is given as Chemistry Technician.

Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates are entitled to enroll by having High School and Equivalent School Diploma and getting enough points in the University Student Selection Exam.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Ege University Assessment and Evaluation Directive ARTICLE 20 - (7) Among the students who have graduated from another higher education program or who cannot complete their education by enrolling in another higher education program, the grades of those who have been successful and who have been granted exemption by the relevant unit management board are recorded on the transcript and are added to the AGNO account. Students who will apply for exemption can apply to their departments until the midterm exams that follow the date of their enrollment at our University, and complete the exemption process. The relevant departments examine all the courses taken by the students, determine the courses that the student will be exempted for once only, and submit them to the relevant unit board of directors.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to successfully complete all the courses available in the program, obtaining a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully completing their professional internship, every student can graduate with an associate degree as a Chemistry Technician.

Profile of The Programme

The aim of the Chemical Technology Program is to train chemical technicians who can meet the needs of a wide range of sectors engaged in chemical production, who have the necessary professional competence in line with scientific and technological developments, and who will serve as a bridge between chemical engineers, chemists and workers in the chemical industry.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who have successfully completed their associate degree education can continue their education in the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, if they are successful in the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam).

Graduation Requirements

Ege University Education and Training Regulation ARTICLE 10 - (1) In order for students to graduate; a) They must complete all their studies, such as courses, laboratories, thesis, internships, b) No unsuccessful courses, c) AGNO value showing the degree of graduation must be 2.00 or above.

Facilities

In the Chemical Technology Program, there are a total of 2 faculty members, including 1 lecturer and 1 lecturer. In addition, trainers from the central campus, national education and industry are provided according to the needs. Our school has 1 chemistry laboratory of 200 m2 and its infrastructure largely meets the need. It is ensured that students are better educated with technical and educational trips and internships.
