Our department, which started education within the Ege Vocational School with the technical support of the World Bank in the academic year of 1987-1988, continues its activities in Aliağa Vocational School since 2014-2015 academic year. Refinery and Petrochemical Program started education in order to meet the needs of the sector.
Graduates who successfully complete the program are awarded an Associate Degree as a Refinery and Petrochemical Technician.
2 Year, 4 Semesters
120 ECTS
EQF-LLL 5
Associate Degree
Candidates are entitled to enroll by having High School and Equivalent School Diploma and getting enough points in the University Student Selection Exam.
The principles of the Ege University Recognition of Prior Learning Directive are taken into account.
In order to successfully complete all of the courses available in the program, obtaining a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully completing their professional internship, each student can graduate with an associate degree as a Refinery and Petrochemical Technician.
Purpose of Refinery and Petrochemical Program; • Implementing the procedures to obtain various petroleum products (gasoline, diesel oil, diesel, etc.) by treating crude oil in line with the plans of engineers • By testing the compliance of additives to be used in the process of obtaining petroleum products with the standards and ensuring their compliance, • Taking measures to ensure the continuity of the system with fault finding tools, • Able to control the quality of petroleum products obtained • To sum up; To train qualified personnel to work in processing crude oil and obtaining various petroleum products. A "Refinery Technician" who can adapt to the Refinery and Petrochemical sector is knowledgeable, skilled and able to use communication facilities well.
Refinery and petrochemical technician, under the management and supervision of a chemical engineer, carries out studies on the refining of crude oil through processes at various stages and obtaining oil products. It conducts tests to control the additives used for this and the conformity of the product obtained with them to the standards; helps the chemical engineer in his research.
They can make vertical transfers to undergraduate programs. Science Faculties: Chemistry Department Engineering Faculty: Chemical Engineering, Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Departments.
Measurement and Evaluation method applied for each course is applied in accordance with Ege University measurement and evaluation principles directive.
a) Completing all courses, laboratories, internships and similar studies, b) No failed courses, c) The cumulative grade point average indicating the graduation degree must be 2.00 or above.
