General Description

Communication Research Doctoral Programme has started in the scope of E.U. School of Social Sciences Institute in 2014-15 Academic Year.

Graduates who successfully complete the program are awarded a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) diploma in the field of "Communication Research".

**In the acceptance of students to the doctorate program, a minimum score of 55 from the central foreign language exams accepted by YÖK or an equivalent score from the international foreign language exams accepted by ÖSYM must be obtained. *A score of 60 or above ALES obtained in the last five years (Verbal point type) or a score equivalent to 60 ALES score from the GRE-GMAT exam must be obtained. * Interview grade is given over 100 full grades. A candidate's scientific achievement grade score; It is the sum of 50% of the ALES score, 25% of the master's grade point average, 10% of the interview grade and 15% of the written scientific evaluation grade. Candidates must have a minimum interview grade of 60 and a scientific achievement grade of at least 65. *Candidates with a placement score of 65 and above are ranked according to their scores starting from the highest. Candidates within the quota gain the right to register for the programs they applied for. Other candidates entering the rankings are determined as substitutes. If there is a tie in the ranking, priority is given to the candidate with a high ALES score.

Successful students who have completed at least one semester in another department of the same institute at the university or in a graduate program affiliated to another higher education institution's equivalent institute can be admitted to graduate programs through horizontal transfer. In order for a student to be accepted for a transfer application, a minimum grade point average of 75 from the courses that he / she enrolled until the application date, the compatibility between the current graduate program and the program he / she wants to pass, in terms of courses and entry requirements, he will be able to undertake thesis advisory in the relevant department. faculty members and infrastructure must be available. A student who wants to transfer to a graduate program of the university; Applies to the relevant institute directorate at least three weeks before the start date of the next semester education by attaching the documents describing the current curriculum and indicating the success of the courses he is enrolled in. Director of the institution; It requests the opinion of the department by sending the application documents to the head of the relevant department or department, and if this opinion is positive, the names of the courses deemed necessary for the student to adapt to the program. The opinions and suggestions of the department are examined in the Board of Directors of the Institute, and it is decided whether the student's transfer request is appropriate or not before the start date of the education. The courses taken while enrolled in a graduate program of another university will be counted in the minimum course load in case the student enrolls in a graduate program at the University, with the recommendation of the advisor and the relevant Department Board and the approval of the Graduate School Administrative Board.

The duration of the Doctorate Program is eight semesters (4 years). However, students who have taken some courses of the program at the undergraduate level as a special student and succeeded according to the 8th article of EGE UNIVERSITY GRADUATE EDUCATION-EDUCATION REGULATION, and those who have completed their undergraduate education in the science branch of the program in a faculty with a normal duration of more than eight semesters including the preparatory class or Students who can complete in a short time can complete their education in a shorter time with the justified recommendation of the relevant department and the decision of the Institute Board of Directors. Program; It consists of a minimum of ten courses, proficiency exam, thesis proposal, thesis presentation and thesis defense. Graduate courses consist of compulsory and elective courses. The total ECTS credits of the program is 240. In order for a student to take the exam for a course in which he / she is registered, he / she must attend at least 70% of the course and at least 80% of the practices. In addition to midterm and final exams, learning activities such as reports, assignments, quizzes, seminar presentations and project studies can be used in the performance assessment of the student during the semester. This grade must be at least 75 out of 100 in order to be considered successful in the relevant course. The student can re-enroll for the courses that he / she has failed, or take other graduate courses approved by his / her advisor. In addition, the advisor and the relevant institute can be selected from the courses offered in other higher education institutions with the recommendation of the head of the department and the approval of the Institute Board of Directors. The institute specifies how much of the courses taken from other higher education institutions can be counted from the course load of at least 21 credits, provided that they do not exceed nine credits. Students who successfully complete their courses are taken to the proficiency exam. If he is successful in this exam, he presents his thesis proposal before the jury. Students verbally submit the progress and results of his thesis to the thesis monitoring committee for six months. Seminar and thesis work are non-credit according to the local credit system and evaluated as successful or unsuccessful. The student has to write the results obtained regarding the thesis in accordance with the thesis writing rules of the relevant institute and defend the thesis verbally in front of the jury. After the completion of the thesis exam, the jury decides on the thesis by absolute majority, acceptance, rejection or correction. The student whose thesis is decided to be corrected defends his thesis again in front of the same jury within six months at the latest. At the end of this defense, the registration of the student whose thesis is not accepted is deleted.

Communication research doctorate program carries out an education plan in order to strengthen the field of communication research academically, to increase the level of knowledge in the field, and to train academicians and experts to work in this field. The program consists of qualitative and quantitative research methods, compulsory courses to strengthen the field of theoretical knowledge and various research courses that students can choose according to their own preferences.

Graduates of this program can work in the public and private sectors, they can work in the academic field as academicians or in the private sector as researchers.

Graduates who have successfully completed the doctorate program can apply to higher education institutions in the same or similar fields in the country or abroad for post-doctorate, an academic position, or a specialist position in research centers in public institutions.

Methods for measuring and evaluating the lectures within the programme are highlighted in the educational plans which have been prepared by the professors who deliver the lectures.

Courses in the Communications Research PhD Degree program are given by 2 professors and 5 Assoc.Professors. Faculty members are getting expertise in research methods and techniques, research theories, research ethics and culture. During the semester, research process which is required for the field studies is planned with the students under the guidance of a faculty member, and students become competent in the research steps both in a theoritacal and applicational way. There are on-going studies for the determination of the physical conditions related to the Department.
