Family counseling with non thesis program began to formal education in 2010. It has been continuing to evening education until 2011.
Family counseling Master’s degree is given after finishing the programs.

The applicants who hold a Bachelor's Degree and willing to enroll in the Master's programme may apply to the Directorate of the Graduate School with the documents: 1-Sufficient score (at least 55 out of 100) from the Academic Staff and Graduate Study Education Exam (ALES) conducted by Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) or GRE Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score equivalent to ALES score of 55. 2-English proficiency (at least 70 out of 100 from the Profiency Exam conducted by Ege University Foreign Language Department, or at least 50 out of 100 from ÜDS (University Language Examination conducted by OSYM) or TOEFL or IELTS score equivalent to UDS score of 50. The candidates fulfilling the criteria outlined above are invited to interwiev. The assessment for admission to masters programs is based on : 50% of ALES, 25% of academic success in the undergraduate programme (cumulative grade point average (CGPA) ) and 25% of interview grade. The required minimum interview grade is 50 out of 100. The candidates having an assessed score of 60 at least are accepted into the Master's programme. The results of the evaluation are announced by the Directorate of Graduate School.
The rules for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. A student who is currently enrolled in a Master's Degree programme in the same discipline at another institution and has successfully completed at least one semester, upon submitting all required documents before the deadline, may transfer to the Master's Programme at EGE University upon the recommendation of the department administration and with the approval of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School. The decision taken will also include eligibility for exemption from some course requirements of the graduate program. Students who transfer from another university must be successful in the EGE University English Proficiency Exam or in an equivalent English examination. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Ege University is not an exception to this.
The program is a 2 semester program and consists of minimum 10 courses (30 local credits) and a term project. The total ECTS credits of the program is 60 ECT. Learning activities such as reports, assignments, quizzes, seminar presentations, as well as midterm and final exams can be used to evaluate the performance of the student in thecourses. In order for the student to be successful in the relevant course, the success grade must be at least 70 out of 100. The student can re-enroll the failed courses in the 3rd term. In the second semester, the student is required to enroll in the term project as well as the courses and submit the project in writing at the end of the semester and submit it to a jury of 3-5 people, one of which is an academic supervisor. Term project is evaluated as successful or unsuccessful. If the student cannot complete the project in the 2nd semester, he / she can re-enroll in the 3rd semester. The duration of the program is maximum 3 semesters. Students who fail to complete the courses and term project successfully at the end of 3 semesters are dismissed from the program. In addition, courses can be selected from another master's or doctoral program courses with the recommendation and approval of the advisor and the head of the relevant department and with the approval of the Comitee of the Institute. The graduate courses that the student previously took at Ege University or another higher education institution with similar content can be counted from the course load with the approval of the academic supervisor and the Comitee of the Institute. The minimum number of courses to be counted from the course load is determined by the Comitee of the Institute. A proficiency exam can be held at the end of the non-thesis master's program, with the recommendation of the Comitee of the institute and the approval of the University Senate.
This program aims to train members of profession who provide family counseling service effectively in various corporations and institutions. In this direction, this program includes various must and selective courses.
Graduates from family counseling master with non thesis program work as family counselor in public utilities and private institutions. In addition, graduates can set up their own family counselor center.
Graduates who successfully completed the Master`s Degree can not apply directly Phd programs with thesis
Assessment and evaluation for each courses was defined detailed in ”Course Instrucion Plan”.

In Family Counseling program, 2 professors,, 5 associate professors, 1 assistant professor from the psychology department and 1 professor and 1 assitant professor from outside the department works. In Ege University Psychology Department, there are several laboratories such as cognitive psychology laboratory, child and adolescent researches laboratory and applied psyhology and psychotherapy unit. In addition, there are high technological devices for instructors and students in the classrooms.
