Department of Public Relations and Publicity has been established in 1989 due to the increasement of demand for laborforce with academic education in this field. The department gives education on the major disciplines of; public relations and publicity, corporate communication, interpersonal communication and research methods.
The Bachelor`s Degree in Public Relations and Publicity (first cycle in Public Relations and Publicity) is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum.

The general requirements explained in “General Admission Requirements” of Information on the Institution part are applied for admission of students.
The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. Also successful vocational school graduates to continue their educaiton to obtain Bachelor’s degrees if they are successful in the selection and the placement examination (DGS, i.e. vertical transfer examination) are admitted. The courses to be taken by these students are determined by the relevant department, on the basis of courses they have completed in the programs from which they have graduated. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Ege University and hence of the Department is not an exception to this. However, exams of exemption are organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and Computer Skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.
Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).
The programme educates versatile PR practitioners with the knowledge, skills, ability and experience, who can perform in the field of public relations and publicity. People who complement to programme have the ability to manage interpersonal and corporate communication processes, internalize the values of communication ethics, are aware of the changes and developments in the occupation in both national and international platforms, have the skills to adapt these to the field, have the necessary knowledge on information communcation technologies and have the ability of contemporary and analytical thinking.

Students who graduate from this programme can work both in public and private sectors in the areas of communication, media, PR, customer relations and corporate relation as PR and communication experts.
The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines.
Methods for measuring and evaluating the lectures within the programme are highlighted in the educational plans which have been prepared by the professors who teach the lectures.

Department of Public Relations and Publicity contains 4 major disciplines; public relations, corporate communication, interpersonal communication and research methods. 13 Professors, 6 Associate Professors,1 Lecturer Dr. assigned with article 13b-4 of 2547 is on duty. In the Department of Public Relations and Publicity, importance is given to practical work, as well as theoretical education. Before their graduation, each student must be involved in at least four project work. In this context, students get the chance of attending many national/ international contests with their projects and achieve various success from these. Via the organizations prepared by the student communities which operate within the department (“PRatik Public Relations Community”, "Young Ege" “Career Community”, ect.), education process is supported by the invited speakers and panels, which enable students to grow as verstaile people. Graduates of the department get to work in both public and private sectors. Graduates work in public relations departments which at the present day, almost every organization has within. As well as Public Relations Departments, graduates are able to establish and operate Public Relations offices and advertisement agencies, they get to work in advertisement agencies and advert-advertisement services of newspapers.
