General Description

Public Relations and Publicity Doctorate program started education in 1993 within the Institute of Social Sciences.

Graduates who successfully complete the program are awarded a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) diploma in the field of "Public Relations and Publicity".

FOREIGN LANGUAGE: In the acceptance of students to the doctorate program, a minimum score of 55 from the central foreign language exams accepted by YÖK or an equivalent score from the international foreign language exams accepted by ÖSYM must be obtained. ALES: ALES score of 60 and above taken in the last five years (ALES type required in the condition of the department will be valid - Verbal score type) or a score equivalent to 60 ALES score from the GRE-GMAT exam is required. Candidates who have sufficient scores on foreign language and ALES and the necessary documents within this framework have the right to apply. Candidates are taken to the written exam by the Ph.D. exam jury. Candidates who pass the written exam are eligible for an interview.

Successful students who have completed at least one semester in another department of the same institute at the university or in a graduate program affiliated to another higher education institution's equivalent institute can be admitted to graduate programs through horizontal transfer. In order for a student to be accepted for a transfer application, a minimum grade point average of 75 from the courses he/she enrolled until the application date, the compatibility between the current graduate education program and the program he/she wants to pass, in terms of courses and entry requirements, he will be able to undertake thesis advisory in the relevant department. faculty members and infrastructure must be available. A student who wants to transfer to a graduate program of the university; Applies to the relevant institute directorate at least three weeks before the start date of the next semester education, by attaching the documents that introduce the current curriculum and indicating the success of the courses he is enrolled to. Director of the institution; It requests the opinion of the department by sending the application documents to the head of the relevant department or department, and if this opinion is positive, the names of the courses deemed necessary for the student to adapt to the program. The opinions and suggestions of the department are examined by the Board of Directors of the Institute, and it is decided before the start date of the education whether the student's request for transfer is appropriate. The courses taken while enrolled in a graduate program of another university will be counted in the minimum course load if the student enrolls in a graduate program at the University, with the recommendation of the advisor and the relevant Department Board and the approval of the Graduate School Administrative Board. based on non-formal certification outside formal educational institutions in Turkey or based on experience (in-formal and non-formal) recognition of the learning process it is at an early stage.

The duration of the Doctorate Program is eight semesters. However, students who have taken some courses of the program at the undergraduate level as a special student and succeeded according to the 8th article of EGE UNIVERSITY GRADUATE EDUCATION-EDUCATION REGULATION, and those who have completed their undergraduate education in a faculty with a normal duration of more than eight semesters, including the preparatory class, or Students who can complete in a short time can complete their education in a shorter time with the justified recommendation of the relevant department and the decision of the Institute Board of Directors. Program; It consists of at least seven courses with a total of not less than 21 local credits, a proficiency exam, a thesis proposal, a thesis presentation, and a thesis defense. Doctoral courses consist of compulsory and elective courses. The total ECTS credits of the program is 240. In order for a student to take the exam for a course in which he/she is registered, he/she must attend at least 70% of the course and at least 80% of the practices. In addition to a midterm and final exams, learning activities such as reports, assignments, quizzes, seminar presentations and project work can be used in the performance assessment of the student during the semester. This grade must be at least 75 out of 100 in order to be considered successful in the relevant course. The student can re-enroll for the courses that he/she has failed, or take other graduate courses approved by his / her advisor. In addition, the advisor and the relevant institute can be selected from the courses offered in other higher education institutions with the recommendation of the head of the department and the approval of the Institute Board of Directors. The institute specifies how much of the courses taken from other higher education institutions can be counted from the course load of at least 21 credits, provided that they do not exceed nine credits. Students who successfully complete their courses are taken to the proficiency exam. If he is successful in this exam, he presents his thesis proposal before the jury. Verbally submits the progress and results of his thesis to the thesis monitoring committee for six months. Seminar and thesis work are non-credit according to the local credit system and evaluated as successful or unsuccessful. The student has to write the results obtained regarding the thesis in accordance with the thesis writing rules of the relevant institute and defend the thesis verbally in front of the jury. After the completion of the thesis exam, the jury decides on the thesis by absolute majority, acceptance, rejection or correction. The student whose thesis is decided to be corrected defends his thesis again in front of the same jury within six months at the latest. At the end of this defense, the registration of the student whose thesis is not accepted is deleted.

The Public Relations and Publicity doctorate program is a program that serves the purpose of strengthening the field of public relations academically, raising the level of knowledge in the field, and raising academicians and experts to work in this field.

Graduates of the Public Relations and Publicity doctorate program can work in both public and private sectors in related fields. Also, there are opportunities to work as a researcher or academician in the academic field or the private sector.

Graduates who successfully complete this program can apply to higher education institutions in the country or abroad, post-doctorate, academic staff or specialist positions in public and private sector organizations.

Methods for measuring and evaluating the lectures within the programme are highlighted in the educational plans which have been prepared by the professors who deliver the lectures.

It consists of at least 7 courses (including the Seminar and Scientific Research Ethics Compulsory course) not less than 21 Local Credits in total and 240 ECTS credits.

4 Professors, 2 Associate Professors and 2 Assistant Professors work in the department of the program. There are facilities such as Public Relations Workshop, computer laboratory in the faculty as wells as opportunities to organize academic events such as symposiums, interviews, etc. by the department.

1 Implementing the knowledge on fields such as; communication science, business management, marketing / marketing communications, sociology, psychology, social psychology, organizational psychology, economy, political science / political communication, information communication technologies, law, research-statistics, cultural studies, communal gender, art and aesthetic etc. to the discipline of public relations.
2 Being able to think strategically about public relations and related fields. Actualizing the strategic public relations management process which comprises; research, planning, implementing and evaluation steps that depends on stakeholder analysis.
3 Evaluating the contribution of public relation theories and applications to the existing/potential occasions and problems in the national and international area.
4 To have theoretical background in the field of public relations and publicity and be able to produce the studies in theoretical context in this area.
5 Being able to produce, plan, applicate and measure projects in the field of public relations and publicity
6 Offering occupational views and solutions by following the national and international cultural and contemporary approaches, problems and events.
7 Creating the sustainable development and quality insight oriented to concepts such as; marketing / marketing communication, advertisement, corporate communication, corporate identity, corporate culture, corporate citizenship, corporate loyalty, reputation, value, social responsibility, image management, relationship management, perception management, emotional intelligence, human resource, etc.
8 Being able to plan and apply strategic communication processes in the fields of communal communications, public opinion building, agenda determination, setting, orientation and managing.
