Ege University Department of Psychology was founded in 1976 as the Behavioral Sciences Department of Faculty of Social Sciences. The Department gave its first graduates in 1981-1982. Today, Ege University Department of Psychology within the Faculty of Letters offers a four-year undergraduate program in psychology and graduate programs (MA and PhD) in different fields of psychology. Psychology students take 30% of their classes in English. This department is accredited by Turkish Psychology Association until February 2025.
The Bachelor's Degree in Psychology’ and ‘Psychologist’ title is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum

First Cycle
The general requirements for admission of students are explained at “General Admission Requirements” within “About Ege University” at homepage.
The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior courses are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council of Turkey. exams of exemption are organized at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and Computer Skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.
Students must obtain average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 grade point and successfully pass all courses on the program (Equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).
The psychology education program is in line with the educational objectives of the 11th Development Plan and the education goals of the Ege University 2019-2023 Strategic Plan. The goal of the four-year undergraduate program is to educate students to achieve scientific knowledge in the main fields of psychology and its interrelationships with related disciplines. The program which includes required vocational courses and a wide range of electives (including courses from other disciplines such as philosophy, sociology, physiology etc.), is annually reviewed and accorded with the recent developments in psychology and the emerging needs of the society. During the fourth year, the students are given a chance to work with a faculty member to write an undergraduate thesis, in a topic of their interest.
Psychology graduates will find vocational opportunities in various public institutions (such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of National Education, Social Services, etc.), private schools, Psychotechnic Evaluation Centre, Industrial establishments. Furthermore, graduates may pursue an academic career by taking up scientific study at universities (at Master’s and Doctorate levels).
The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply both in the same and in related to continue Master’s Degree programs at national and /or international level disciplines.

The Psychology Department has a full-time staff comprised of 3 professors, 2 associate professors, 6 assistant professors, 19 research assistants, 1 lecturer. The department invites two specialists on a regular basis. At times foreign professors were also invited. In Ege University Department of Psychology, there are five applied laboratories and units following as Psychotechnic Evaluation Centre, Cognitive Lab, Social Psychology Lab, Child and Adolescent Research Lab, Psychotherapy Unit. Students can join ongoing projects and studies in these labs and units.
