General Description

Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Ege University (E.U.F.E.A.S.) was founded on July 3, 1992. The Faculty comprises three departments: Department of Business Administration, Department of Economics and Department of International Relations.

The Bachelor`s Degree in Economics and Administrative Sciences-Economics ( first cycle in Economics and Administrative Sciences-Economics ) is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum.

The rules for the recognition of prior learning are explained in the "General Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning" in the general part of "Information on the Institution" (http://ebys.ege.edu.tr/ogrenci/ebp/general-arrangements.htm).

Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).

The graduate program in economics aims to provide students with a solid theoretical background in this field and support their knowledge with statistical and econometric methods. The main goal of the program is to provide students with a comprehensive economic view and an ability to use the tools for solving economic problems.

Graduates are employed in almost every industry. They are able to take up various jobs both in all private and public sectors. Especially banking sector looks for economics graduates. In addition to these jobs, through KPSS exam, they can work in the top position, such as Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT). They also can undertake academic careers by pursuing postgraduate degrees.

The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines. The graduates should have sufficient knowledge of foreign language and also pass the exam of "ALES". The application conditions for non-thesis Master`s degree programmes can differ according to refered institutions. There is no such requirements for non-thesis Master`s Degree Programmes in Ege University Graduate School of Social Sciences.

Assessment and evaluation of a course contains midterm, other educational term activities, final and make up examinations. Lecturer of the course determine the contribution percents of educational activities and final exam to overall passing grade before the enrollment week and announce the percents at least in the first week of the semester to the students. 40 percent-70 percent of the midterm and other activities, 60 percent-30 percent of the final and make-up examinations should add up to overall passing grade. There are some socialorganizations run by students in our university. Our students may seek membership in them in line with their interests. Our students are informed about contemporary issues and developments through symposiums, congresses and panels arranged by our faculty and guest speakers invited to our faculty so that they knowledge but also latest developments in practice. In addition to this our students organize International Student Conference on Economics every year. Most of our students take advantage of facilities of Erasmus program. Elective courses are added to our education plans, taking into account the objectives of the entrepreneurship and R&D innovation field in the 11th Development Plan and the aims of continuing the educational activities in the strategic plan of our university.

1 Ability to identify basic economics concepts, economics actors, systems, theories, and methods and use them in various contexts

3 Ability to apply mathematical, statistical, and econometric analysis tools on economics issues
4 Ability to evaluate economic and social events from an historical perspective and formulate alternative policies
5 Ability to analyse economic growth, sustainable development and productivity issues at a basic level and evaluate them with different perspectives
6 Ability to identify the roles of innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship and technology within a dynamic global economy and evaluate these with a critical perspective
7 Ability to analyse national and international indicators and events and the ability to synthesize economics knowledge and methods
8 Ability to identify management, accounting and law concepts and use these in work life
9 Ability to prepare projects, act independently, take initiative, follow an international literature and display creativity
10 Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with colleagues, solve problems and use information technologies in native language and at least on foreign language.
